I was wondering how someone who is a homosexual would explain to their town that they have had enough of their harassment and ignorance?

Answer:
I think education is the key here. People often mock what they don’t understand. Is there any type of gay support within your community? If not, perhaps you could start a support group. In numbers there is security. Do you have the support of your family? If your neighbors see others supporting you maybe they will also accept you for who you are. Minorities are very rarely excepted in small towns. You can’t change the attitude of an entire town, but maybe you can show them that being different isn’t wrong. With time comes acceptance.
