Depakote?

Question:

Can you tell me what depakote is prescribed for other than as an antiepilectic medication. I know it is prescribed widely for psychiatric patients who have no history of seizures.

Answer:

Depakote and related Valproic Acid compounds are often prescribed for use in the treatment of bipolar spectrum disorders. Beyond that I can’t responsibly say much (being a psychologist and not a psychiatrist). Talk to a pharmacist or psychiatrist for more information.
